NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022

NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022, the biggest annual sports event organized by NSBM Green University, was commenced on 10th February 2022 and concluded on 8th March, achieving resounding success. The event brought in a dynamic platform to optimize the sportive talents of NSBM undergraduates as four houses: Ruby Adventurers, Citrine Warriors, Emerald Fighters, and Sapphire Heroes, competed in a series of sports events over four weeks.

Emerald Fighters led their way ahead in the competition and secured the trophy as the champions of NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022 in the grand final held at the NSBM Green University grounds.  Citrine Warriors achieved the 1st Runners-up and the 2nd Runners-up went to Ruby Adventurers.

The grand final of NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022 was glamoured with the presence of Vice-Chancellor of NSBM, Prof. E A Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic and Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Student Affairs, Mr Kasun Dissanayake, Deans, staff members, undergraduates and alumni of NSBM.

The participation of the guest of honour, Mr. Niluka Karunaratne, 3-time Olympian representing badminton and 17-time national champion, enlivened the morning session with more colour. Whilst the evening session was graced with the honourable presence of the Cheif Guest, Former Army Commander, General Daya Rathanyake, the Secretary to the Ministry of Industries.

The award for the Best Male Athlete of NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022 was presented to Mr Thaveesha Wijegunasinghe, whilst Ms Gagani De Silva and Ms Udari Bandara were commended as the Best Female Athletes of NSBM Sports Fiesta 2022.
